One of the biggest opportunities for the Blue Ridge Scouting History Project this year has happened at Camp Powhatan. Following a successful Winter Camp, in which a pop-up museum was displayed in the lounge for purposes of merit badge instruction, the suggestion was made by leadership to put some history displays on the wall.
Since I chair the Living History Sub-committee of the Reservation Program Committee, the idea was presented there and worked its way through discussions this past spring. In May, long-time scouter and volunteer Wally Hare offered to donate several wooden cabinets for this project. Here is what they look like, from the weekend of May 24, 2025.

Contents of the new display cases will be a mixture of curated history artboards and scouting memorabilia. Tom Sikes, another member of the Living History Sub-committee (and long-time camp history contributor) will put together five displays of artifacts. My role is to put together the history artboards which contain images and history facts about five areas of our scouting program. These boards are interchangeable and can be updated or swapped out as new ideas come to mind.
Here are the first set of artboards, fresh back from Walgreens photo lab on board stock, which I created on behalf of the BRSHP. These will be shared in the camp lounge for 2025.
