My son just posted a video to our little family forum that shows my grandson Greyson telling stories at Brady Saunders. He is standing right in front of a firepit that I built many years ago. There is nobody in the audience but that is beside the point. He has a great memory and that is a crucial element to any story.
He is standing in a spot where I stood literally hundreds of times telling stories to vast and appreciative crowds. All he needs now is some self-confidence, and a voice change, and the ability to captivate a crowd in the darkness. The last thing he will need is to find his own stories to tell. He could use any of mine or any of his fathers, but he needs to draw from his own life experience. That is where all stories begin.
I can envision a time in the not too distant future when a tall young man will step into the spotlight to tell a story for the masses. There will be something strangely familiar about the way he talks and the way he handles himself. I don’t know if I will get there to see that performance but my spirit will be standing quietly right beside him. My sense of pride will be so bright that it will make the fire itself seem more brilliant.
